Allen Vaught Blockwalking--East Dallas

Allen Vaught Logo

The Allen Vaught campaign is conducting an extensive blockwalking program in East Dallas and could really use your help! Your hard work has already made Dallas County a place where Democrats can win again. This race is being targeted as one of the best chances for a Democrat to defeat a Republican incumbent in the Texas House. With your help, we can do it!

We are hiring canvassers who can commit to walking a regular schedule over the next two months. We will be walking every weekday evening from 5-8pm, two shifts Saturday from 10pm-6pm, and Sundays from 12pm-5pm.

The goal of this program is to increase voter turnout in our predominately Democratic areas through information distribution and voter registration. There is a real opportunity for a Democratic win in East Dallas. We hope you will join us!

If you are interested in applying for a paid walking position, please email Sarah Hauser, Field Campaign Coordinator at sarah at allenvaught.com or call 214-826-7179. We hope to hear from you! Please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested.

Thanks!

Volunteers needed: Coordinated Campaign/Jim Jordan

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR CAMPAIGN!!!
Jim Jordan is running for 160th Civil District Court.
He is looking for volunteers for two specific events, but also for future reference.
Event #1: COORDINATED WALK ON SATURDAYS
We are looking for 2 walkers and 1 driver to walk Democractic Precincts on Sat. mornings. Volunteers would be appreciated, but there is a stipend available for those who are interested.
Event #2: Garland Labor Day Parade
We are looking for volunteers to walk with Jim in the parade. The line-up begins at 7 a.m., so you would need to plan on arriving around that time. I know it's early, but it should be a great time!!!
**Something to keep in mind. These opportunities may seem elementary to some people looking to get involved with a campaign, but I can assure (from personal experience) that little things can turn into big opportunities.
Please email Sonya Grogg at sonyagrogg at yahoo.com for more information.

Volunteers Needed--Voter Registration DCCD

Voter Registration at El Centro and Bill J Priest -
Sept 23 - 29
We have also been asked to help with celebrating Constitution Day the week of September 25-29 at El Centro and Bill J. Priest colleges. The times will be flexible and we will be partnering with trained staff and students.
Again, if you are interested in this opportunity, please respond to me and let me know which day, site, and time frame would work for you. Again, I will send more details to those who respond.
I realize that this is a lot to think about and that we are rich with opportunies. Don't let it overwhelm - just check your calendars and see if you can help with at least one event.
Each location has different logistical realities. Please let me know if you have special needs or questions!

Volunteers Needed--Voter Registration Drive!

The League of Women Voters needs volunteers to help with voter registration at three separate events which are right on top of each other! I will list them below. Hopefully you can help with at least one. I am asking that you respond only if you can help or have a question. If you cannot volunteer for any of these events, simply delete the email. There will be other events.
If you are deputized in Dallas County, that's great, but you do not have to be deputized to help us. Each event is different, so read carefully and then BE SPECIFIC as to the event and days and times you can help. Let me say in advance that we really appreciate whatever you can do!!

September 18 NEW CITIZEN CEREMONIES
There will be two ceremonies on Monday, Sept 18, one at 10am and the other at 2pm. They will both take place in the Dallas Convention Center in downtown Dallas. For people who have never helped with one of these events, you would come at least 1/2 hour before the ceremony and be finished at the latest by two hours after the ceremony. Those who have helped before should come no later than 15 minnutes after the beginning of the ceremony.
The cost of the underground parking is $8 or there is a DART station by the convention center.
If you want to help with either/both of these events, please let Liz Wally know the time.
She will be sending more details about the event to those who sign up.

DART Out To Vote - September 18, 19, 20, 21, 22
4:00pm to 7:00pm
This exciting week of voter registration will be highly publicized and will be done in coalition with some wonderful partners. Each of the days, there will be volunteers at 11 DART stations, registering voters and handing out voter education information from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, the "going home" time.
We have a tremendous need for volunteers and are asking for the volunteers to sign up for the station they choose. Our Dallas League will be in charge of the West End elizawally@aol.com and Downtown Garland elizawally@aol.com stations . The other stations are: Hampton Audreymoorehead@aol.com , Illinois elgarcia@dallascounty.org, Ledbetter mailto:toninrose@sbcglobal.net, Westmoreland lenalevario@sbcglobal.net , South Irving cbell5@airmail.net , Mockingbird Station vierawilliams@sbcglobal.net Park Lane sally@turanboat.com, Spring Valley mailto:chong.choe@kacdfw.org, and Parker Road mailto:donnabening@comcast.net.
Although each station will be administered by one of the Coalition Partners, the volunteers will be from various sources, as well as the Coalition. Each organization is offering its volunteers the opportunity to choose the most convenient station. You are welcome to bring friends, as long as you give each name when you sign up. We expect this event to not only be very important for voters, but also, a lot of fun!
Please click on the email address above for the station where you want to volunteer and describe exactly which station, and what day(s) you can help. If you have questions, also direct them to the person at the station you are choosing, since each station has different logistics. I will send more specific information to those who sign up.
It is important that you sign up in advance since the security at DARTstation is very tight and we need to have the names of each volunteer. There will be security officers at each station to help us be sure that things run smoothly.

Shinoda Campaign Volunteers needed!

This message was sent by your Democracy for America (DFA) Dallas
organizer, Bernie Tamayo.

What makes DFA different from other groups is that we do more than
talk about Democracy, we actually work for it. Several appeals have
been made to members to support a great candidate like Phil Shinoda
and no one has stepped forward.

I urge you to remember, we will never win if we never work. What will
it take for each and every one of us to work for Democracy?

Volunteer now: http://www.dfalink.com/event.php?id=11428

As a group, DFA Dallas is doing it's part to take to win back the
Texas Legislature by supporting the campaign of Phil Shinoda* in the
114th distinct (Incumbent: Will Hartnett ). We must win these local
races if we are going win Texas. As long as Republicans control the
state legislature, they will continue to change the rules in their
favor and redistrict Democrats and progressives out of office.

We still need 6 volunteers to canvass/drive on Saturday, August 26th.
The canvassing will be done in the morning before the temperature
rises and drivers (with air conditioning) will deliver canvassers
close to the target homes. I have done it myself and it was very
comfortable.

Here is how it works. Our volunteers meet at the Shinoda Campaign
Headquarters at 9 AM on Saturday. Training is done and the canvassing
teams set out to contact their targeted voters. Each team is 2
canvassers and one driver (providing speed and air conditioning). At
noon, lunch is provided. We then finish up the canvassing and head
home with the satisfaction of a job well done.
